FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A man and a woman have been found dead after a fire broke out in a retirement home in southeast Fresno.
Officials say the fire was first reported at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Willow Retirement Community on Willow Avenue near Butler Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found one unit on fire and, after making entry, discovered two adults, four cats and one dog dead inside.
Authorities say it’s too early to say what the cause of the fire is and how long the fire had been burning.
An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death for the man and woman. No foul play is suspected.
Investigators are expected to stay on scene for several hours.
These are the first fire-related deaths in the city of Fresno this year.
