Bakersfield, CA (KMJ) A Kern County jury on Wednesday found Jason Garibay guilty of First-Degree Murder.
Prosecutors say in the Summer of 2025 Garibay violently attacked an elderly tenant of the room and board facility where they lived.
The victim, 70-year old Domingo Trevino, was found dead at the scene. He had suffered massive trauma to his head and neck.
Investigators say Garibay kicked and stomped on his head more than 20 times.
During in an interview with detectives, Garibay admitted to killing Trevino and that he was “proud of what he did”.
Garibay is set to be sentenced on Feb. 27, 2026. He faces up to 25-years-to-life in prison.
