FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Two people are in the hospital after officials say they were using a barbecue for heat at a home in central Fresno.
Officials responded to a home near Iowa Avenue and 3rd Street just after midnight Tuesday after a woman in her 60s called about discomfort.
She was taken to the hospital, where staff found that her carbon monoxide levels were high.
Fresno Fire’s hazmat team returned to the address and found an elderly man inside a detached garage converted into a living space.
There was also charcoal barbecue inside being used for heat, causing carbon monoxide levels to be extremely high.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
