TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — A suspect is dead and a deputy is in the hospital following a chase that ended in a crash in Tulare County.
It happened before midnight Sunday at Plano and Mulberry streets. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says the chase started when they found a stolen car.
Authorities say the suspect rammed into a deputy’s vehicle before fleeing. That deputy was not hurt.
Shortly after, a Porterville police officer tried pulling the suspect over near Westfield and Newcomb.
Authorities say the suspect didn’t stop and hit another deputy vehicle before going into a front yard, where the car caught on fire.
One of the suspects died at the scene, and another person inside the car was taken to the hospital.
That deputy was taken to the hospital as well for treatment.
It is not known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
