SOUTHWEST FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A teen has been arrested after pointing a laser at a Fresno Police Department helicopter in Southwest Fresno.
On November 6, around 6:30 p.m., Fresno PD Air Support was assisting officers at a traffic stop near Fruit Ave. and Cesar Chavez Blvd. when they saw a red laser beam following the helicopter and illuminating the cockpit.
The crew on board found the location of the source, officers responded to the area and arrested a 16-year-old who was then booked at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center.
Fresno PD would like to remind everyone that shining a laser at an aircraft violates federal and state law. It also creates a serious safety hazard that can potentially harm the lives on the aircraft as well as those on the ground.
