The Senate on Monday voted to pass the new bipartisan continuing resolution to end the 41-day shutdown and reopen the government.
After clearing a 60-vote cloture hurdle, thanks to the eight Democrats who struck a deal with Republicans, the Senate needed only a simple majority to pass the bill to reopen the government. The procedural vote ended debate, meaning final passage requires just 51 votes.
The measure now goes to the House for approval before it reaches the desk of President Donald Trump.
This is a developing story.
