FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A UEI College student has been shot following a fight in the parking lot of Manchester Mall.
Police say the shooting happened at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the back of the mall, near the Regal Manchester movie theater.
When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound near the elevator inside the mall.
He was taken to the hospital for further treatment and is expected to be okay.
Investigators say a fight broke out between two students and during it, a suspect pulled up in a silver car and fired several gunshots.
A spokesperson for UEI College says the student was shot by a suspect not affiliated with the school.
“The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff remain the highest priority at UEI College,” spokesperson Joseph Cockrell said. “We are grateful for the prompt response by first responders and our partnership with the Fresno Police Department.”
Police believe the suspect in the silver car is a man in his 20s.
UEI College was placed on lockdown and detectives will be releasing students and their vehicles as the investigation continues.
