FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Clovis High senior quarterback Deagan Rose has flipped his commitment from Oregon State to stay home and play for the Fresno State Bulldogs.
The Clovis native announced his commitment Tuesday night, just hours after he decommitted from the Beavers in a social media post.
“I love Coach Entz, I love what they’re doing over there and their program is definitely heading in the right direction,” he told Action News exclusively. “I’m excited to be a part of it.”
247Sports ranks Rose as a three-star recruit and as “one of the top pure throwers in the West.” He is now the highest-rated commitment for Fresno State in the 2026 class.
Last year, he was pictured in Valley Children’s Stadium with former Bulldog and NFL quarterback Derek Carr and Rose says the history of great Fresno State quarterbacks was a factor in his decision.
“100%, they’ve kind of been known for that definitely in the Mountain West, it’s just where all the quarterbacks go under Tedford, Pat Hill,” he said. “I’m excited.”
The Cougars quarterback had multiple Division-I offers, including Power-4 schools Auburn, Arizona State and Oregon.
Six weeks into his senior campaign, Rose has thrown for 1,519 yards and 14 touchdowns and helped the Cougars to a 5-1 start.
“I’m trying so hard to focus on my senior season, we’ve got a good team, we’ve got good coaches and everything is in order,” he said.
Rose is also a dual-sport athlete, playing third base and catcher on the Cougars baseball team.
Both Fresno State and Oregon State are set to join the Pac-12 Conference in 2026.
