FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Summer strawberry plantings hit a new record in California this year.
The state’s Strawberry Commission reports more than 11,500 crops were planted.
That’s up almost 3 percent from last year.
California also produces the popular fruit in the fall and early winter.
Ag experts say the upward trend in fall-producing acreage reflects strong demand from September to November.
