FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Fresno City Councilmember Nelson Esparza has suspended his State Senate campaign.
The announcement came Thursday morning.
Esparza said he is instead supporting Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria in her bid for California’s 14th District seat.
The seat is currently held by State Senator Anna Caballero, who has publicly endorsed Soria when she terms.
Esparza originally announced his candidacy for the seat last August.
District 14 includes large portions of Merced, Madera and Fresno counties.
