KMJ Hosts Sound Off: Kamala Won’t Be Governor

SAN FRANCISCO — Despite polls showing that she was the clear front-runner for the top office in the Golden State, former Vice President Kamala Harris will not be running for the California governor’s seat next year — or any elected office for that matter.

Harris said she would be dedicating her time to “getting back out and listening to the American people, helping elect Democrats across the nation who will fight fearlessly, and sharing more details in the months ahead about my own plans.”

In a statement put out Wednesday, Harris said: “I have extraordinary admiration and respect for those who dedicate their lives to public service — service to their communities and to our nation. At the same time, we must recognize that our politics, our government, and our institutions have too often failed the American people, culminating in this moment of crisis. As we look ahead, we must be willing to pursue change through new methods and fresh thinking — committed to our same values and principles, but not bound by the same playbook.”

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a republican candidate for Governor said “Harris’s decision to not run for governor is the first right decision in a career full of wrong ones. Californians are tired of living in an unsafe state they cannot afford, and Kamala seems to understand that the status quo is impossible to defend”.

Harris has often been slammed for her speeches as being “word salads”. Listen here:

Before serving as Vice President, Harris served as a U.S. senator and California Attorney General, as well as San Francisco District Attorney.
