Madera Community College Celebrating 5th Anniversary

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) — Madera Community College is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month as California’s 116th community college.

In July 2020, the California Community Colleges Board of Governors voted unanimously to designate Madera Community College as the 116th and newest campus in the state’s system.

The campus began its journey in 1988 as the Madera Community College Center, offering classes in collaboration with Madera High School.

In 1996, the college landed its permanent home on a 114-acre site donated by local landowners.

Since then, the campus has grown and expanded its footprint into eastern Madera County with the addition of the Oakhurst Center.
