Suspect Killed After Shootout With Tulare County Deputies At Ivanhoe Apartment

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — An attempted homicide suspect is dead after a shootout with Tulare County sheriff’s deputies in Ivanhoe.

The shooting happened just before 8 pm Thursday at the Oakwood Apartments on Avenue 327 and Road 158.

The sheriff’s office says they received a tip earlier in the day that the wanted suspect was hiding at the apartment complex.

The Tulare County SWAT team went into one of the apartments, where deputies say the suspect opened fire. Gunfire was then exchanged as they were exiting the apartment.

A drone was sent in shortly after and found the suspect unresponsive. Deputies tried to provide medical aid, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspect information was provided, as well as the attempted homicide they were wanted for.

One deputy is being treated for their injuries after cutting themselves as they jumped out of a window during the retreat.

The suspect has not been identified
