FRESNO, CA (KMJ) After months of debate in 2018, Measure P failed to gain the 2/3 yes vote necessary to pass. But that vote was eventually overturned in appeals court and Fresno County residents were charged an additional parks tax beginning in 2021. Millions and millions have been collected since then, but our local parks are actually worse off than they were before Measure P was enacted – according to a new study. Where is all the money going? See the study below from Trust for Public Land which ranks Fresno’s parks as a woeful #98 out of the largest 100 cities in the US:

The Measure P parks tax is costing Fresno County residents an average of $99 per year. It will be in effect for 30 years. One report puts the taxes collected at more than $46 million over the last fiscal year.
