CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) Two 16-year-olds have been arrested in the brazen, deadly hit on Caleb Quick.
Clovis Police Chief Curt Flemming made the announcement at a Saturday morning news conference.
The 18-year-old victim was gunned down in the parking lot of a Clovis McDonald’s on April 23rd.
The suspected shooter, an unidentified 16-year-old boy, was spotted on surveillance video wearing a sinched black hoodie and facemask, clearly targeting Quick. A 16-year-old girl is the suspected getaway driver.
“We have recovered a firearm,” the Chief said. The suspected murder weapon was recovered at the alleged shooter’s house after serving a search warrant.

At this point, investigators are not going public with a motive for the murder.
“Whatever the motive is in this case, taking a life is not acceptable. My hope now is to continue a very thorough investigation and they are held accountable for their actions”, Chief Flemming continued.
The victim and suspects knew each other, but Flemming would not elaborate. Both suspects are students in the Clovis Unified School system.
They turned themselves in after CPD alerted their attorneys that arrests were imminent.
The case is now in the hands of the Fresno County District Attorney. DA Lisa Smittcamp has not commented on the case.
“We received a little under a hundred tips through Crime Stoppers”, but none of them panned out. Reward donations had reached $40,000, but none of it will be distributed.
After the press conference wrapped, Clovis Unified Superintendent Corrine Folmer issued a statement:
“As a district, we work to put students at the center of every decision we make. In the days ahead, our team will be wholly focused on deploying our extensive mental health and emotional wellness support system in a way that meets the unique needs of students impacted by this crime in our community. As a parent of a student in our district, I recognize the fear we can have for our own children when something like this happens in our community. Our schools remain well-protected and welcoming places for our students, and our team is here for your family. As an additional show of support and reassurance for our families, extra Clovis Unified police officers will also remain deployed at schools most directly impacted by this tragedy.”
