The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office arrest two Fresno County men for stealing nearly 500-pounds of grapes.
Authorities say Ag detectives were alerted about a traffic stop that involving a SUV transporting lots of unpackaged grapes.
Detectives soon found out that the grapes were stolen from a field and were cut and stored at a nearby location the night before.
According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office announcement, 47-year-old Juan Benjamin Ventura and 57-year-old Dionicio Sandoval, both of Reedley, drove back to the field to retrieve the grapes.
The grapes were later identified as a red grape variety valued at $700.
Both men face charges which include grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and giving false names to deputies.
