Calif. Supreme Court to Weigh Removal of Taxpayer Protection Act

(KMJ) The California Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear oral arguments on the viability of the “Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act”.

The Golden State’s high court will decide whether to remove the proposal from the November ballot.

The act attempts to give California voters more power in the process when state and local leaders raise taxes and fees. The measure requires voters to give final approval on all future taxes and fees. If passed, it would also cancel new taxes and fees imposed in 2022 unless approved within a year of the act going into effect.
