Lawmakers Want To Delist A Predator From The Endangered Species Act

Currently it’s illegal for California ranchers to shoot a gray wolf if attacking their cattle.

But a just passed house bill might change that.

The “Trust the Science Act” would remove the gray wolf from the list of Federal Endangered Species, along with ensuring that action is not subject to judicial review and restore authority back to state lawmakers and wildlife officials to control the gray wolf population.

The act requires the interior secretary to reissue the 2020 Department of the Interior final rule that delisted the gray wolf in the lower 48 states.

According to California State Daily, California has a growing number of wolves, and they’ve been attacking cattle at such a rate that the state’s compensation fund for ranchers ran out of money.
