Clovis Unified Board Set to Vote on Final Revised Boundary Map

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Clovis Unified School District is inching closer to establishing its new attendance boundaries as board members are set to vote on the final proposed school boundary map Wednesday afternoon.

The changes come as the district is set to open the new Clovis South High School in August 2025.

“Our community is growing and changing and evolving and with that growth comes the need for new schools, the potential overcrowding of some schools but also as the community grows and changes, we have some schools going to be under enrolled and so we are looking to address that as well,” Clovis Unified spokesperson Kelly Avants explained.

Back in January, the district released two proposed boundary maps followed by community meetings, which helped create a third and final map in February.

It includes various changes, with the most significant impact in the Clovis East area, as the majority will be moved to the new Clovis South campus.

“Every school in our district is now looking for opportunities to connect with that community that’s coming their way: inviting them to parent club meetings, carnival opportunities,” Avants said.

Parents in the district, including Katherine Provchy have voiced concerns about the new boundaries since the first draft release.

“We had assumed that most of the changes were happening down south. when we found out we were involved we were really taken aback, quite shocked and it surprised us,” Provchy said.

Provchy adds the district did a good job of listening to parents in community meetings and provided accommodations that helped her family, but she knows some parents are still disappointed.

“I hope that the district is not going to stop listening to their concerns as we reach out. Just because a map is chosen, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s over for the families trying to make these adjustments for the district,” Provchy said.

If the map is approved Wednesday, the new boundaries will go into effect fall of 2025.
