(KMJ-Fresno) A deadly crash that tied up traffic on Hwy 99 for hours Monday evening was the result of a drunk driver, according to the CHP.
Investigators say the crash occurred around 9:15pm near Selma, north of Mountain View Ave.
The CHP says a van driven by Chul Kyu Shin, 61, slammed into a slower moving SUV on northbound Hwy 99, causing the SUV to veer off the highway and into a concrete barrier. The crash killed 71 year old Maria Trinidad Esquivel of Clovis. Three others were injured.
Shin was arrested for felony DUI and booked into the Fresno County jail.
