(KMJ) – The ribbon is cut on Monday for a new senior center in Fresno.

Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer was joined by Councilmember Esmeralda Soria for the ceremony for The Link @ Blackstone Community Center at the corner of Blackstone and McKinley

The City of Fresno will be leasing the 1,800-square-foot community space at 1505 North Blackstone Avenue, and providing services to seniors, including technology classes, fitness classes, and arts and cultural activities.

A new community center will open later this year at the corner of Bulldog Lane and North Sixth Street. It will offer both senior and youth programs to the residents in the El Dorado Park area.

A city-wide senior center is expected to be built at the corner of Blackstone Avenue and East Holland Avenue. The state-of-the-art building will go into the site where a former Vons Store was located. No word yet when construction will start or a completion date.
