(KMJ) — A 32-year-old man is in custody following a chase with deputies and gunfire in Southwest Fresno.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says members of the HEAT Team spotted a stolen BMW Thursday just before 4 p.m. near Jensen Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.

According to investigators, Fabian Mansanalez got into the vehicle and drove off.

He then noticed he was being followed by deputies and sped away, leading members of the HEAT Team to Whitesbridge Avenue and Amador Street before jumping out and crashing into a parked vehicle.

During the chase, the sheriff’s office says shots were fired, however, it’s unknown if they came from the suspect or someone else during the chase.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Fresno Police Department, and California Highway Patrol, then set up a perimeter and took Mansanalez into custody.

He now, deputies say, faces a charge for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and possibly more charges following the investigation.
