Heavy Police Response After Elderly Woman Attacked by Dog in Fresno

(KMJ) — An elderly woman was injured after a dog bit her in the leg Thursday morning near Olive Avenue and First Street.

Fresno Police say the 70-year-old woman was outside recycling when the dog broke through a fence.

The dog is said to have charged at the woman and bit her once in the leg.

Heavy police presence was seen on the scene, including SPCA who showed up to finally help safely capture the dog.

The dog was discovered to be a pet, however, the owners were not home at the time.

It is currently not known what will happen to the dog, but the owners will be advised about the situation.

The woman was treated and her injuries were not life-threatening.

The dog was taken to the SPCA for observation.
