
UPDATE: FresnoPolice say the suspect involved in yesterday’s Officer Involved Shooting has been identified as 27-year-old Austin Flores.

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/FOX26) — A man under a restraining order died after he was shot by police in Fresno Thursday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 12:00 p.m. at Crystal Ave. and Fountain Way near Shields and West Avenues.
Fresno police were called to investigate the report of a man violating a restraining order.
Family members live at the home and are the ones who called the police.
When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old Hispanic man with a weapon in his waistband.
According to Police Chief Paco Balderrama, the man charged at an officer, forcing the officer to open fire.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The chief said the man, whose identity is not being released yet, had two outstanding arrest warrants against him.
A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Chief Balderrama said the police department has had similar calls from this family including one on Wednesday.
The chief said the officer’s body-worn camera video will be processed as part of the investigation and also said there was an eye-witness to the shooting.
He said there is a team from the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office and Office of Independent Review at the scene and the Department of Justice has also been contacted.
