The shooting happened around 12:00 p.m. at Crystal Ave. and Fountain Way near Shields and West Avenues.

Fresno police were called to investigate the report of a man violating a restraining order.

Family members live at the home and are the ones who called the police.

When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old Hispanic man with a weapon in his waistband.

According to Police Chief Paco Balderrama, the man charged at an officer, forcing the officer to open fire.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The chief said the man, whose identity is not being released yet, had two outstanding arrest warrants against him.
