FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/FOX26) — Fresno City Councilman Garry Bredefeld held a news conference on Friday to accuse Council President Esparza of attempting to extort former Fresno City Attorney Doug Sloan.
Later on Friday, Esparza released a statement saying: “This latest tantrum comes with the irony that Bredefeld is the only Councilmember who has knowingly weaponized City Staff and resources, including the City Attorney’s Office, for political gain and media attention.”
On Monday, Esparza texted the news director at KMJ’s News Partner FOX26 saying, “Check the court filing.”
Council President Esparza said, “The lawsuit speaks for itself. I am focused on our work at City Hall. We have the city budget coming up very shortly and I will continue to work with the City Attorney’s Office and my Council colleagues in order to deliver for Fresno residents.”
