(KMJ) – A fuel reduction project is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday along the Highway 41 corridor.
Cal Fire along with other agencies are working together to reduce wildfires with prescribed burns along the eastside of Highway 41 near the Madera canal to O’Neals. They say this area has seen more fires annually than anywhere else in the Madera, Mariposa, Merced Unit.
The fire suppression strategy in this area will help protect the communities near Coarsegold, O’Neals and Hidden Lakes.
Fire crews will be in the area of Road 145 South to Avenue 15 on Thursday. Traffic and roads should not be impacted.
On Friday, Cal Fire will work on Road 208 through Road 145 starting at 6:30 p.m. until midnight.
Residents nearby should expect to see heavy smoke throughout the night. Drivers are asked to be extra cautious around these areas as crews will be working and monitoring the fire.
