UC Merced Police Officer Accused of Assaulting His Ex-Girlfriend

(KMKJ) – An officer with the University of California – Merced Police Department is arrested for allegedly stalking and assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Merced Police say 37-year-old Israel Garcia now faces several felony charges after he stalked, and both physically and sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend after they ended their relationship sometime last month.

The victim reportedly came forward to speak with investigators and says Garcia even placed a GPS tracking device on her vehicle.

He was booked into the Merced County Jail and faces a host of charges including: stalking, domestic violence, unlawful use of an electronic tracking device to locate or track a person, false imprisonment, and sexual assault.
