(KMJ) – A wildfire that began Friday night in Monterey County has now burned 700 acres and has reached 35% containment.

According to Cal Fire, the Colorado Fire is now burning in the following locations: Big Sur, Palo Colorado Canyon, and south of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

“The fire behavior was moderate and made wind-driven runs late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, with some isolated tree torching,” said Cal Fire in an update. “Crews will continue building and improving containment lines and mopping up hotspots Sunday.”

So far this blaze, dubbed the Colorado Fire, has only damaged one structure.

Cal Fire says an evacuation center has been set up for those in impacted areas at Carmel Middle School, and road closures are taking place at Highway 1, which is closed from Garrapata Creek to Point Sur.
