DA Files Murder Charges in Double Fresno Homicide

(KMJ) – The Fresno man accused of killing his mother and grandfather earlier this month and then fleeing the Valley for Southern California, could now face the death penalty.

Here are the details, as released by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office:

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Rahmad Kerel Parke (25, of Fresno) for the murder of his 90-year-old grandfather, Mel Abdelaziz, and his 58-year-old mother, Melba Abdelaziz.

It is alleged that on or about January 5, 2022, Parke used a pair of scissors to stab Mel Abdelaziz several times, causing his death. Parke left Mel Abdelaziz in the front yard of Southeast Fresno residence. It is also alleged that he used pieces of a broken chair to strike Melba Abdelaziz multiple times inside the Southeast Fresno residence, causing her death.

The Felony Complaint filed in the Superior Court alleges that Rahmad Parke committed:
• Two (2) Counts of MURDER [Penal Code §187(a)]
• Two (2) Enhancements of PERSONAL USE OF A DANGEROUS OR DEADLY WEAPON [Penal
Code §12022(b)(1)]
• The Special Circumstance of MULTIPLE MURDERS [Penal Code §190.2]

If convicted of all charges and allegations, Parke faces a potential death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of parole. The District Attorney’s Office is currently conducting the necessary analysis on whether to seek the death penalty and will make an announcement on that decision at a later date.

Rahmad Parke was arrested in Los Angeles County on January 15th, and thereafter booked into the Fresno County Jail. Parke’s arraignment is scheduled for January 24th at 8:30 AM in Department 33 of the Fresno County Superior Court.
