Fresno State Student Killed in Highway 180 Hit-And-Run

(KMJ) – A 23-year-old Fresno State student was killed early Saturday morning following a hit and run on Highway 180 near Cedar Avenue in Fresno.

The California Highway Patrol says Devan Nicole Elayda, who is originally from Hollister, was driving east on Highway 180 around 2:45 a.m. when she pulled over to switch seats with her passenger. She got out of her car, stepped into the road, and was hit by someone driving a silver 2017-2020 Lexus IS series.

Officers say the person driving the Lexus did not stop or offer medical aid to Elayda following the collision. According to investigators, the Lexus should have damage to the side front bumper, fender area, or hood. The suspect’s car resembles this vehicle:

When Highway Patrol arrived, they pronounced Elayda dead at the scene.
