News/Talk 580 and 105.9 KMJ is gearing up for our 100th celebration. We need your help! If you have any old pictures, articles, merchandise or anything with KMJ on it take a picture and send it our way. You could help be part of the celebration by emailing photos of your items to 100@KMJNOW.COM.
KMJ first signed on in March 1922, and was originally owned by the San Joaquin Light and Power Corporation. It was later acquired by the McClatchy Newspaper Company in 1925. KMJ is the 38th oldest licensed, and continuously operated radio station in the United States. It remains one of only a few dozen stations to keep their original three-letter call sign from their founding.
