WINTON, CA (KMJ) — Detectives with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a homicide in Winton Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies were called to the area just before 1:00 p.m. for the report of a shooting.
When they got there they found one person dead and another wounded.
That person was airlifted to the hospital.
Walnut Ave. was closed between Center St. and Santa Fe. Dr.
They say the two suspects, described as Hispanic males wearing all black, ran from the shooting on foot and got into a vehicle.
Crookham Elementary School was on lockdown and the school will be releasing students at the district office on Central.
