Man Arrested in Connection to Deadly Shooting at Fresno Homeless Encampment

The Fresno Police Department announced the arrest of a man in connection to a homicide.

Officers were called to a homeless encampment near California Ave. and Hwy 99 around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16th.

When they got there they found 33-year-old Rafael Llamas Lopez of Fresno suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators identified 35-year-old Lejon McCoy of Fresno as the shooter.

McCoy was arrested on unrelated charges and was already in custody at the Fresno County Jail.

Detectives officially charged McCoy for the murder of Rafael Llamas Lopez on Friday.
