Fresno PD: Murder-Suicide Investigation Turns Into Double Murder

FRESNO (KMJ)  What was originally thought to be a murder-suicide has now evolved into a double murder investigation.

18 year old Robert Cotter is behind bars at Fresno County jail after being arrested Friday for the shooting deaths of his father and younger brother.

The investigation began after a shooting at a home on W. McKinley Ave. on May 17th.  53-year old Patrick Cotter and 15 year old Brian Cotter had been shot.

According to FPD, Robert Cotter, was in the mobile home when this incident occurred.  Robert initially told Investigators that his 15-year-old brother shot his
father, then turned the gun on himself. After several months of an extensive investigation, Homicide Detectives and the Fresno County Coroner’s Office determined

that the statements made by Robert were inconsistent with the physical evidence obtained during the investigation.

Detectives says Cotter admitted to planning and acting out the brutal murders.  He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on two counts of murder.
