(KMJ) – A kitten who could not climb back down a tree is now safe after Fresno Fire Department came to the rescue.
Fresno Fire received a call from neighbors in the Tower District saying they heard faint meowing coming from a large tree.
Ladder 9 was called to a neighborhood in Tower District for the report of an animal in distress.
On arrival, the crew could hear a small kitten crying for help from high up in a tree.
The firefighters deployed about 60 feet of the 105 foot aerial ladder to reach, slowly moving it over to the cat, trying not to scare it and rescue the scared little guy.
Helmet cam footage from the firefighter shows the view from the aerial ladder during the operation.
This was in 109 degree heat during a shift that saw multiple emergencies including two large 3-Alarm fires.
Right as the firefighter reached for the kitten it slipped but was caught just in time and placed in a bag for its safety.
The crew was happy to safely return the kitten to solid ground!
When they reached the ground no one claimed the kitten as theirs.
Lucky for the kitten a neighbor offered to adopt the little guy.
