An apartment complex was damaged by fire Monday morning in Fresno.

The call came in around 11:40 a.m. about a fire at an apartment complex at First St. and Princeton Ave, between Shields and Clinton Avenues.

Fire crews say the fire started in the alley behind four units of the apartment complex.

People were home at only one of the four units at the time of the fire.

One of the people inside heard a noise and came out to see the fire and called 9-1-1.

Fire crews got to the scene and say flames were already inside a garage and being pushed by the wind into the attic.

Firefighters were able to quickly get inside and control the fire to limit most of the damage to one unit.

All four units are unlivable at this time and at least five people have been displaced.
