(KMJ) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate its first homicide of 2021.

Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, a person performing work at a home on the 5500 block of West Olive Avenue called the Sheriff’s Office after seeing what he believed was a car that crashed into a fence.  They believed the person inside was sleeping.

But, after Deputies arrived, they determined the person inside was dead and not from injuries sustained in the crash.  Despite saying the victim’s body showed signs of trauma, Investigators have yet to comment on the the victim’s cause of death.  Nor have they released their name.

Now homicide detectives are speaking with neighbors, collecting evidence and are searching for possible video surveillance from the surrounding areas.  And they ask anyone with information on this first murder of the year to call Valley Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
