FRESNO CA, (KMJ) – Two men are killed in Fresno in two different double shootings but police believe the incidents are not related.
Shot Spotter registered gunfire, then a series of 911 calls came in to dispatch at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, alerting police to the scene at Maple and Belmont in east Central Fresno.
Officers found two people had been shot, one man in his forties died at the scene, the other was transported to CRMC in critical condition.
A third victim may have also been hit, but police said that person’s whereabouts were unknown.
The second crime scene took place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Normal and McKinley.
Police responded to the area of McKinley Ave. and First St.
Captain Anthony Martinez said two men were sitting in a car when another pulled up.
“Words were exchanged, and the multiple gunshots were fired, someone in the other vehicle opened fire,” said Captain Martinez.
One person died at the scene; a second person was taken to CRMC, both victims described as black men, one in his 20s and the other in his early 30s.
“The suspect vehicle is described as a red Hyundai, the suspects are described only as black males,” said Captain Martinez.
Police are looking for a motive in both investigations.
