SACRAMENTO, CA (KMJ) — Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that there’s a new resource available for people worried about evictions.
That includes both tenants and landlords.
Monday, Governor Newsom signed a law to temporarily ban evictions for anyone who can’t pay rent because of coronavirus.
It’s called the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Stabilization Act of 2020.
That law is protection from eviction but does not make the rent free, renters still owe the money in the long run, and landlords can ask a judge to force the tenant to pay the money back.
