Fresno Police Say Man Shot Dead in Car Was Targeted

 

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A shooting left a man dead and a woman wounded in South Fresno early Thursday morning, police now say the man was targeted.

Shot Spotter detected 18 gunshots in the area of E Lorena Ave. and S. Ivy Ave., near Elm and California Avenues around 1:30 a.m.

When officers got to the scene they found a man and woman who had been shot while sitting in a car.

The man has been identified as 38-year-old Kenneth Butler.

He had been shot multiple times in the upper body.

Butler was rushed to CRMC where he died

The woman was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.

 

Fresno police say Butler was targeted by multiple shooters, but the motive is not being released at this time.

One of the rounds fired by the suspects shattered a glass door and entered into a nearby apartment, where a mother and her small child were inside.

Neither was injured.
