VISALIA, CA. (KMJ) — The CHP says two people are dead, one critically injured after a car crashes into the back of a farming truck, in Tulare County.

It was before 8:00 am Tuesday on Road 80 and Avenue 328, north of Visalia.

Witnesses told the CHP crash investigators that a Toyota Prius was heading south on Road 80, weaving through traffic.

Witnesses say the Prius, driven by a 20-year-old man – according to the CHP – was reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour, before crashing into the truck at the intersection of Avenue 328.

Two boys and a girl were in the car; one of the boys and the girl were killed.

The CHP says the 17-year-old girl was in the backseat and was not wearing a seat belt.

She died at the scene.

The 20-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old male passenger were rushed to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with critical injuries.

CHP officers say the driver later died at the hospital.

Officers are treating the crash as a crime scene because a loaded gun and marijuana plants were found inside the Prius.

The crash is still under investigation.

CHP says if the driver survives, he could be charged with the deaths.
