Coronavirus Outbreak Reported at Two Valley Ruiz Food Sites

(KMJ) – COVID-19 outbreaks at two Ruiz Foods plants in the South Valley leave dozens of employees infected with the coronavirus.

According to Tulare County health officials, as of Sunday, 77 employees have tested positive between the Dinuba and Tulare manufacturing facilities.

According to a Ruiz Foods spokesperson, there was an increase in positive cases after the three-day Easter weekend.  Now, the company is working to inform any team member that may have come into contact with an employee that has tested positive.

Team members that have been exposed are placed off work for at least 14 days.  And, once exposed, the company works with employees to help get them tested.

The Ruiz Food spokesperson adds, since the beginning of the outbreak, it has imposed travel restrictions, hygiene requirements, and educated team members to prevent infection.  The company has not shut down either plant, but has scaled back production at both locations.
