FRESNO, CA (KMJ)- A 73-year-old man drowned while he was out on a walk, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says.

It happened Tuesday morning at a private pond in the area of Temperance and E. Hamilton in Fresno County.

According to deputies, family members of the 73-year-old man called the Sheriff’s Office after the man went for a walk on his usual route and didn’t return home.

Family members started driving around the neighborhood to look for the man along his usual walking route.

Deputies say the family members saw his walker and began checking the area immediately. The man had recently had a medical procedure and was using a walker to get around.

The family members went up to the small pond behind the house and saw what appeared to be a body in the water.

Deputies and firefighters went to the pond and found the 73-year-old man in the water.
