FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ News) — A cell phone recovered from a canal has helped Fresno County detectives arrest a man on robbery and battery charges.
21-year-old Amilcar Alfaro is facing 10 years-to-life in prison for punching an elderly couple, who took photos of him holding a screaming toddler over a canal at De Witt and East Lane Avenues.
Investigators say Alfaro snatched the phone and and threw it into the water.
Detectives retrieved it and data recovery was successful, with incriminating photos of Alfaro taken off the device.
