‘Tower Rapist’ Set to Stay Behind Bars

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ News) — The so-called “Tower Rapist” is set to spend at least 3 more years behind bars, after waiving his right to a full parole hearing Tuesday.

53-year-old Rudolph Acosta was not present at the hearing, in which one survivor spoke in opposition to his release.

Acosta was sentenced to 78 years in prison in the 90s, after admitting to raping a teenage girl and at least 7 women in the Tower District.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says Acosta was eligible for parole as a so-called “youth offender,” because he was under the age of 27 when he committed the crimes.
