FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Another suspect in Sunday’s hit and run in the Tower District turns himself in to Fresno Police.
With his attorney present, 24-year-old Chase Popps of Fresno, turned himself in on Tuesday at the Fresno Police Department.
He’s the assault suspect who police say bumped into the victim, 36-year-old Johnny Rodriguez, outside Bobby Salazar’s restaurant.
Police say Popps and Rodriguez got in a fight, and Rodriguez ended up on Olive Avenue where he was hit by a car, early Sunday morning.
He’s accused of striking Rodriguez and pushing him onto Olive Ave.
“The victim’s family obviously wants an answer for it, the police department wants an answer for it, and the public wants an answer for it, so I’m hopeful that our investigation continues that we’re able to come up with those answers for the family,” said Fresno Police Lt. Richard Tucker.
Popps is facing a charge of battery with great bodily injury.
He posted his bail on Tuesday, set at $25,000 dollars.
23-year-old Jessica Acunia (above), the alleged driver of the hit and run, turned herself in Monday night, after they found the car involved.
The three passengers inside the car are still wanted (below).
