(KMJ) – The California Highway Patrol says officers found $500,000 in cash while conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 5.
CHP says an officer pulled over a car on July 23rd near Panoche Road. When the officer started talking to the driver, he became suspicious because of the driver’s extreme nervousness and strange story.
CHP K9 Officer “Bruce” was called in and alerted officers to narcotics in the rear of the car. A search uncovered two suitcases, one of which the driver claimed ownership and denied knowing about the other.
It was in this mysterious suitcase where officers found $500,000 – in cash.
Investigators say the driver was arrested and the money was seized.
