Newsom vs. Cox for Calif. Governor

FRESNO CA (KMJ)  The 2018 Gubernatorial campaign has been an unusual one – until now.  After a contentious primary run-up, the ol’ Dem vs. Rep race has come to fruition.

Former San Francisco Mayor and current Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D-SF) was the clear leader after the primary vote ended Tuesday night.

San Diego republican businessman John Cox (R-SD) came in second.  Pres. Trump’s endorsement seemed to bolster Cox’s campaign and propelled him to the November general election.

Orange County republican Assemblyman Travis Allen and former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did not garner enough votes to advance.

Despite concerns about 180,000 voters not being included on the roll in LA County, Villaraigosa conceded later in the evening.
