FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous who abducted his two-year old daughter.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the domestic violence incident began at 5:30 on Thursday, at the FAX bus station at Manchester Center.

The father, 40-year-old Robert Gonzales, pulled up in a blue Honda Civic, ordered them in his car, and drove away with his ex-wife, their 11 month-old son, who was in a stroller, and their 2 year-old daughter, of whom he had custody.

Gonzales drove around for several hours, and Chief Dyer says around 8:00 p.m., he began beating his ex-wife in the face and body with a steel spike, renderering her unconscious.

He then put a blanket over her head, hit her again while she was holding the 11-month old, and struck the child in the face, as well.

He drove them to Kearney Park, and beat her again, unconscious.

The woman woke up three hours later in Victoria Park, at Clinton and Brawley, the 11-month-old was screaming, and the two-year-old was gone.

Gonzales then wrapped her in a blanket, tied her up, and taped her hands together, turned on the heater full blast and left them in the car.

The victim was fearful for her life, she says Gonzales told her he wanted her to feel exactly what he felt like when she had posted about their relationship on Facebook.

In an attempt to get him to let her go, she told him that she loved him, and would go back with him.

At some point, Dyer says the victim, and the one-year-old child were able to escape, and ran up to an employee in the park, who told Gonzales he’d better leave because he was calling the police.

She was rushed to the hospital with severe trauma, and a broken foot, and broken hand.

“It appears that the victim has a broken hand, contusions on the head as well as a swollen black-eye – both eyes, and also a broken foot,” said Dyer.

The 11 month-old has facial injuries and is still in the hospital.

Chief Dyer is asking if anyone knows the whereabouts of 40 year-old Robert Gonzales, he was last seen in a blue, four-door Honda Civic.

“We do know that after the victim escaped and Gonzalez left Victoria Park he then went to her apartment, again, thinking she might be there, and attempted to force entry into the door but was unsuccessful,” said Chief Dyer.

Gonzales was last in possession of a two-year-old female.

If someone does come across him contact 559-349-6665 or call 911 and police will respond immediately.

Police say you should not approach Gonzales he is extremely dangerous.

Gonzales has “a violent history with several domestic violences, stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm, false imprisonment, as well as kidnap, and we believe he is armed with a firearm,” said Dyer. “We believe the two-year-old is in danger based on the behavior that he demonstrated last night.”
