Reedley City Council Postpones Vote On Lease For Controversial Transition House

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -Reedley City Council postpones the vote Tuesday on a lease agreement for the controversial Transition House.

The agreement with Hope Now Ministries was to operate a transitional home providing temporary housing for families and domestic violence victims.

Last September, the Reedley Planning Commission approved the location on Huntsman near Reed, fully funded by a state grant split with the city and the non profit.

Neighbors created a petition, complaining it’s too close to their homes.

The non-profit is owned by Reedley City Council Member Frank Pinon (below) and Pastor Ken Baker.

On Tuesday, March 13th, “Item 8,” the lease agreement, was removed from the council agenda.

Questions are being raised by some residents about how the city would use its cut of the money, $336,000 of the $560,000 grant.

Some members were not at council when it was postponed by just 3 of the 5 members.

As a member of the council, and owner of the proposed Transition House, Pinon was not allowed to vote.
